Our own personal story of tracing ancestors began over 30 years ago when my mother started looking for information on her grandparents and their families. I spent many days with my mom researching at a public library several towns away. We had no idea what we were doing as we painstakingly looked through microfiche of newspaper articles and birth/death records to find these people that could belong to our ancestors. This was back in the early 1990's.
In the early 1900's Laura B S Crouch from Kansas USA founded several safe houses in the Winnipeg Manitoba area and then later in British Columbia Canada. These homes were provided to help meet the needs of certain groups of people she thought she could help most. These homes were officially closed in 1937/1938 following a trial and the death of Laura Crouch.

THERE WAS ALOT OF CONTROVERSARY SURROUNDING THESE HOMES.
IF YOU HAD ANY ANCESTORS WHO WERE INMATES/RESIDENTS OR STAFF IN ANY OF THESE HOMES, HAVE INFORMATION AND STORIES TO SHARE OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS WHO ALSO HAD ANCESTORS HERE.

Research and connecting adoptees and their birth families. Assisting in communication, registering on the adoptions sites, applying for your birth records and adoption file.

Please note that we can not certify ANY Metis or Aboriginal lineage. Many records can be found for Metis ancestry, however after 1870 approx most Metis and Aboriginal families did not identify with their heritage especially on Government documents. Instead they choose to identify with their second nationality.

Building a family tree is a very critical part of genealogy. However it is also the most complicated. before a person is entered into a tree as an ancestor it is important to have the supporting documents to prove that they belong there. Adding a person who does not belong will corrupt the outcome of your tree.

Documents are very important in genealogy research. These include census records, birth, baptism, death, marriage, voters list, land records, immigration/naturalization, newspaper articles and more.
